The Tailor Shop At Enbizaka
On the corner of Enbizaka is a young woman who owns a tailor shop.
With virtue and a reliable disposition, she is a popular girl in the neighbourhood.
The kind of thing that causes her worry is the constant cheating of the one she loves.
“Although he has someone like me, he never returns home.”
But I must persevere with my work. I grip my scissors fast in one hand.
The sewing scissors are a keepsake of my mother’s. If you throroughly sharpen them, they cut even better.
Today the town is the same like always. It is indeed as calm and peaceful as everyday that comes.
I saw that person in the main street. Who on earth is the woman standing beside him?
The red kimono suits her well. He seems quite intimate with the beautiful woman.
I couldn’t bear the sight of them together. I left that place immediately.
But I must persevere with my work. I hold my scissors fast in one hand.
While my cheeks become wet with tears, I work hard on re-sewing the kimono.
The town has an uneasy atmosphere for some reason. It seems that some crime broke out.
I saw that person in front of the bridge. Who on earth is the woman standing beside him?
That person was in a depressed state. He was leaning on a woman with pretty hair.
The green obi really suits her. Ah, I guess that’s the kind of girl who meets your taste.
But I must persevere with my work. I grip my scissors fast in one hand.
While my reddened eyes swell, I work hard on repairing the obi.
Chaos has suddenly started in the town. It seems that a crime happened again.
I saw that person in the hairpin shop. Who on earth is the woman standing beside him?
He’s buying a yellow ornate hairpin for a very young girl.
What on earth does he think he’s doing? He really has no boundaries.
But I must persevere with my work. I grip my scissors fast in one hand.
I wonder; were my scissors always this colour? I work hard on my job again today.

Today the whole town is in an uproar. This time a man was killed.
It seems that this entire family of four was murdered by someone.
At any rate, he was acting so cruel, you know? “How do you do? Good afternoon,” huh.
It was as though I was a stranger to him. It was as though I was a stranger.
But I must persevere with my work. I grip my scissors fast in one hand.
The sewing scissors have been stained red. If you throroughly sharpen them, they cut much cleaner.
Notes:
This is mothy’s song under the theme of “Invidia” (Envy). The “Enbi” part in “Enbizaka” stands for that.
For those who don’t know, a kimono is a traditional dress/gown and the obi is the sash for a kimono.
Also, the hairpin spoken of in the song is the traditional kind, not the modern.
The part in italics is written in the video, but not spoken.
One other thing was that the phrase “isshou kenmei” was a little difficult for me to word. Try to imagine in this case Luka grabbing the scissors in agitation to the point where they would make an indent in her skin. That’s sort of the situation that it’s implying.
